Physiotherapy Can Help You Comfortably Get Back To Your Everyday Routine
A healthy, strong, and active lifestyle is what most of us are after. We all want to feel our best so we can enjoy our lives.

If you’re looking for a healthier, stronger, and more active lifestyle, request an appointment today!

What is physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy generally consists of three important phases: pain relief, strengthening, and functional integration. Some people are apprehensive about physiotherapy because they believe it will hurt them; however, the opposite is true. PT is not meant to cause pain, but rather to relieve it once and for all.

Physiotherapy is aimed at pain relief and strengthening, and our Bloor West Village and The Kingsway physiotherapist will make sure that your treatment plan won’t bring you any pain or discomfort. Rest assured that you’re in good hands here!

An active lifestyle is very dependent upon movement. If you can’t move comfortably, you can’t stay as active as you should. Our physiotherapist will cater your treatment plan around specific movements designed to increase your strength, flexibility, balance, and overall mobility. He or she will assist you with many of these exercises, but will also provide some simple ones that can be done at home.

The end result of physiotherapy is living the active kind of life you want, free from painful limitations. That can only happen when you apply the concepts you learn from your treatments to the outside world.

Our physiotherapist is as dedicated as you are, and will encourage you to achieve all the goals you set forth in the beginning.

Why choose us?
We use a combination of the most effective and up to date treatment options. Some of the treatments we use include:

Hands on Manual Therapy
Acupuncture
Exercise Programs
Electric Modalities
Performance Taping
Education About Your Problem
Hands on, 1-on-1 Care
Our physiotherapists provide one-on-one care that combines the most effective, hands-on treatment options.

We treat the root cause of the problem
We identify and treat the root of your problem so you experience a better recovery with longer lasting results.

 Manual Physiotherapists
Our physiotherapists complete several years of rigorous post graduate courses and exams to achieve the manual physiotherapy domain.

What to expect from physiotherapy
At your initial assessment, you may be asked to perform basic movements, such as sitting down, standing up, walking, lifting, stretching, or other motions.

Once our physiotherapist has a clear idea of what your needs are, they will begin creating a customized treatment plan to help relieve your pain and achieve your goals.

Everyone has different needs based on the conditions of their bodies and what kind of pain they’re experiencing. There is no cookie-cutter approach to being healthy, as one treatment plan may not work the same for one person as it would for another.

Our physiotherapist will work closely with you to evaluate your mobility, balance, range of motion, and severity of pain. Your physical goals will also be taken into account when creating your treatment plan, as well as any health risks that may be holding you back.

Benefits of physiotherapy
A physiotherapist is a movement specialist, educated in analyzing mobility issues with walking, running, jumping, bending, stretching, and almost every other form of physical activity.

The purpose of physiotherapy remains the same, no matter what you are seeking its services for.

Perhaps you are still suffering from the lingering pain of an injury. Perhaps you are recovering from surgery and trying to get your range of motion back. Perhaps your joints simply aren’t what they used to be, and you are looking for relief.

Whatever the case may be, physiotherapists are dedicated to relieving your pain and getting you back to your peak level of physical health.

Through in-office sessions and at-home exercises, patients strengthen their muscles and joints, improve their balance, build endurance, and experience pain relief, all without the unwanted harmful risks of drugs or surgery.

Is physiotherapy hard?
In short: yes, and no.

The pain-free active lifestyle you want is not always easy to obtain, especially if you’re someone living with chronic pain or an illness that restricts your mobility.

If the very idea of going out and exercising with your aches and pains leaves you feeling uncomfortable, know that you’re not alone. However, there is, fortunately, a simpler solution to gaining the active lifestyle you desire.

Physical activity is the hardest aspect to get in the habit of doing, especially if you are being held back by chronic pain. Some people try to mask their symptoms with anti-inflammatory or pain-relieving medications, while others, unfortunately, give up on the idea of being active altogether.

With the help of Physio plus physiotherapists, it is possible to reclaim your pain-free, healthy lifestyle, and get back to doing the activities you love. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle takes work, but once you get into the groove of it, it becomes much easier.

We treat the root cause of your problem. Contact us today!
Our team of registered physiotherapists consists of clinical instructors, leaders and mentors who have been recognized for their excellence in the field of physiotherapy. They continue to advance their skills by pursuing extensive post-graduate training in manual therapy, orthopedics and sports medicine.

If you are looking to improve your health, strength, and physical activity, look no further – we are here to help. Request an appointment at PhysioPlus Clinics today and get started on your journey toward better health and wellness!

Electrical Stimulation / TENS
Living with Chronic Pain? Electrical Stimulation Could Benefit You
Electrical Stimulation Could be the Answer for Your Chronic Pain!
Have you sustained an injury or illness that has left you with chronic pain? If that is the case, the solution could be electrical stimulation or TENS.

Electrical stimulation is a safe and effective form of treatment that can help you with pain relief and recovery. While it may sound overwhelming, it’s actually a very effective way to relieve pain!

A typical electrical stimulation system uses self-adhesive electrodes, which are mounted on the body around the targeted treatment area. The electrodes are then connected to a device via wire lines through which electricity can pass through and eventually communicate with sensory and/or motor nerves.

To learn more, click here to request an appointment at our physiotherapy clinic today!

What will electrical stimulation/TENS treatments look like?
Electrical stimulation is often prescribed for pain.

This modality can trigger an innate and completely natural pain-relieving effect by stimulating specific sensory nerve fibers (including A-beta, A-delta, and C fibers), which both decrease the sensation of pain and release neurotransmitters that prolong the pain-relieving effects.

Electrical stimulation has a variety of other benefits, including:

Reduce, eliminate, and/or control pain (both acute and chronic)
Reduce muscle spasm
Improve motor coordination
Prevent or reverse muscle atrophy (especially after prolonged immobilization, such as a limb being cast as a fracture heals)
Provide neuromuscular re-education
Decrease swelling
Increase local circulation
Improve range of motion
It is safe to use electrical stimulation on all parts of the body, but it’s not suitable for everyone, however. Electrical stimulation will likely not be recommended for people with deep vein thrombosis (DVT), those who are pregnant, those with pacemakers, and those with impaired comprehension.

Some of the most common conditions treated with electrical stimulation include:

Chronic pain
Post-surgical pain relief
Acute sports-related or auto accident-related injuries
Muscle strains
Neurological conditions, such as a stroke
Ligament sprains
Repetitive strain injuries
Will I feel pain with electrical stimulation?
Not at all! It is easy for physiotherapists and chiropractors to adjust the strength of electrical stimulation of the muscles or sensory stimulation of the nerves to the tolerance of each patient.

Electrical stimulation includes a variety of different ways to stimulate the nerves.

Transcutaneous electrical stimulation of the nerve (TENS), interference, pre-modulated, Russian, and symmetrical or asymmetrical bi-phasic are among the various modes.

All of these modes have specific currents, and the current you are prescribed will depend on the type and severity of your condition.

Some patients report a slight discomfort, such as a “tingly,” “prickly,” or “pins and needles” sensation.

Electrical stimulation can sometimes become a bit uncomfortable when used for muscle enhancement, but it should never result in pain.

What will I gain with electrical stimulation?
The ultimate goal of our Bloor West Village and The Kingsway physiotherapy practice is your comfort, protection, and health.

At your initial appointment, in addition to asking questions about your current condition and medical background, our physiotherapists and chiropractors will also perform a physical examination.

From there, an individualized treatment plan will be developed by one of our certified physiotherapists and chiropractors, based on your personal needs.

If your physiotherapist or chiropractor feels that you will benefit from electrical stimulation, he or she will explain it in-depth and integrate it into your treatment plan.

During an electrical stimulation procedure, you will be asked to sit or lie in a comfortable position. Our physiotherapists and chiropractors will clean and prepare your skin in the target treatment area and walk you through the entire treatment step-by-step.

Get Moving with Ease Once Again with Joint Mobilization
Mobilize Your Joints with Physiotherapy!
Joint mobilization is an incredibly effective treatment option, but many patients are unaware of its benefits.

Our physiotherapy clinic is proud to offer our patients in need the joint mobilization techniques that they need.

This form of treatment involves the passive movement of specific joints by means of a qualified application of force, direction, and technique.

Our physiotherapists will use his or her hands to mobilize an injured or stiff joint with joint mobilization, to help regain range of motion and reduce stiffness so you can move more freely with less pain.

If you think that our joint mobilization techniques can help you, please contact us today for more information!

What should I know about joint mobilization?
You have hundreds of joints in your body that come in a variety of shapes and sizes (such as a “hinge joint” in your elbow, a “ball and socket joint” in your hip, or a “saddle joint” in your thumb). Your joints depend on a combination of stability and mobility to help you function efficiently and comfortably.

Your joints are supported by a wide range of physiological structures, including ligaments, tendons, capsules, cartilage, and muscle fibers. All of these structures can be injured but can also benefit from physiotherapy treatments, including joint mobilization.

The specific type, magnitude, speed, and frequency of joint mobilization performed depends on a number of factors, including the goal of treatment, the type of joint being targeted, and even your own unique anatomy.

The benefits of joint mobilization include the reduction of pain, improved range of motion, and improved quality of the joint movement itself.

Joint mobilization can help many specific conditions
Joint mobilization isn’t appropriate for all patients, and our skilled and experienced physiotherapists and chiropractors can determine if it’s right for you or a loved one.

Sometimes, a joint can become irritated, swollen, or misaligned as a result of injury, stress, poor posture, repetitive movement, or even as a result of age-related wear and tear.

When this happens, the joint may not move correctly and become stiff and painful.

Nearby structures including muscles, tendons, and ligaments may become tense or injured as a compensatory effect of trying to support or stabilize the injured joint.

This can lead to muscle soreness, weakness or even impingement and damage to nearby nerves.

Specific conditions that our physiotherapy team successfully manage with joint mobilizations include:

Sciatica and other types of nerve impingement syndromes
Low back pain
Rotator cuff tears or impingement
Ankle sprains
Neck pain , whiplash
Facet joint locking and other types of spinal misalignments
Medial or lateral epicondylitis (golfer’s or tennis elbow, respectively)
Frozen Shoulder (Adhesive capsulitis)
Arthritis (especially of the shoulder, spine, elbow, hip, and knee)
Joint issues are often the hidden underlying factors driving other types of injuries and ailments including muscle strains, ligament damage, and bursitis, so this is why we strongly encourage you to consult with a Bloor West Village and Kingsway physiotherapists and chiropractors with any type of acute or chronic dysfunction.

Your joints could be contributing to your pain without you even realizing it!

What is a typical joint mobilization session like?
If you are seeking a physiotherapists in Maadi region, we can help. At Physio Plus Clinics, you may first expect a thorough assessment during your initial visit. We’ll analyze and examine everything from your range of motion, balance, pain, posture, and even possible tissue tension in order to design the appropriate treatment plan for your needs.

We’ll be able to build a personalized care plan to meet your specific needs based on our examination results, as well as the details we collect from asking you about your current and past medical background.

Because joint mobilization strategies have been shown to be successful for a number of conditions, we may very well decide to incorporate this form of manual therapy into your treatment plan.

Be sure to wear comfortable and loose-fitting clothing to prepare for a physiotherapy session with joint mobilization.

With joint mobilization techniques, your therapist must be able to see or feel the exact joint that he or she is mobilizing – bearing in mind, of course, that your privacy and comfort are of the utmost concern to our staff.

In order to optimize results and eliminate recurrent discomfort or dysfunction, our physiotherapists will also be sure to give you specific instructions on how to sit or lie during your appointment. They will also explain exactly what you can expect to experience, and what to do after your session.

At Physio Plus Health Clinics, we’ll also provide you with additional resources to complement and enhance the effects of joint mobilization, which may include specific exercises for range of motion, flexibility or strength. Certain modalities, postural exercises or neuromuscular retraining may also be added to your treatment plan by our physiotherapists or chiropractors.

Ready to add joint mobilization to your treatment plan?
Do you think joint mobilization may be right for you? If so, schedule an appointment at Physio Plus Health Clinics today to learn more about our wide range of physiotherapy services that we offer.

Kinesio Taping
Have You Sustained a Sports Injury? Kinesio Taping Can Help!
Discover How Kinesio Taping Can Get You Back in the Game Today
Have you sustained an injury or condition that affects your everyday life?

If you’re an athlete, Kinesio taping is a great way to get you back in the game. Kinesio taping can help you find the relief you need!

Pain can sometimes be so debilitating that it makes daily tasks more difficult than they used to be.

That’s why at PhysioPlus Health Clinics we offer treatments like Kinesio taping to help relieve pain, promote healing, increase strength, improve range of motion, and (most importantly) get you back to living your normal life comfortably!

What should I know about adding Kinesio taping to my treatment plan?
Kinesio taping has helped many of our patients return to a comfortable everyday life without any residual pain or stiffness!

Our physiotherapists and chiropractors know the very best Kinesio therapy treatments to help you achieve optimum results.

At your initial appointment, our physiotherapists and chiropractors will conduct a comprehensive assessment, which will help in deciding whether Kinesio taping will be the right choice for your treatment plan.

How can Kinesio taping benefit me?
There are many reasons why Kinesio taping may be useful to you in your healing journey.

These include, but are not limited to:

Decreasing swelling
Injury, surgery, or even simple overuse of a certain part of your body can also result in swelling.

Kinesio taping helps to decrease swelling by limiting the pressure between the skin and the tissues underneath.

This allows any buildup of fluid to travel freely and promotes better movement of the affected area.

Management scar tissue
This is an especially common treatment after an injury, surgery, or another type of trauma has occurred.

Healing from trauma can cause a thick band of scar tissue to form over the affected area, which can inhibit signals of movement.

Kinesio taping can provide a much-needed stretch to the scar tissue, making the signals of movement easier to communicate, and thus increasing your mobility.

Stabilizing joints
Some conditions may make it difficult for joints to stay in place.

Kinesio taping can help stabilize and provide support for these joints, while still allowing them to move around their intended range of motion.

Relieving pain
One of the biggest benefits of Kinesio taping is pain relief.

By blocking pain receptors, your brain doesn’t receive the painful messages from the affected area any longer, and the muscles relax as a result.

This allows for more mobility, quicker healing, and a more comfortable treatment process overall.

What can I expect from Kinesio taping treatments?
Our physiotherapists and chiropractors will perform Kinesio taping by placing tape strips on the affected area of your body, as well as any other areas where you may experience pain or stiffness.

Our physiotherapists will implement a variety of exercises and treatment techniques in their treatment plans, based on your specific needs.

Kinesio taping is one of the methods used to improve your mobility and support your muscles, joints, and tendons.

If you think you could benefit from Kinesio taping, please schedule an appointment at PhysioPlus Health Group today!

What else can Kinesio taping do?
Kinesio taping helps to reset the circuitry in the affected part of your body by correcting any faulty interactions between the skin and the muscles, joints, and tendons below. This results in increased muscle strength and activity.

Kinesio taping also works by blocking any pain receptors that are sent to your brain. If these painful messages are not received, the muscles in the affected area will loosen and the likelihood of spasms will decrease significantly.

Pain constricts the affected area, but if the pain is removed, there will suddenly be more freedom for blood flow and movement.

Get back to doing the activities you love ASAP
At PhysioPlus Health Clinics, we’re dedicated to helping you reach your peak physical performance, and we’d love to meet you and create a plan to make that happen.

Click here to request an appointment with one of our physiotherapists and today, and get started on your path to recovery!

Myofascial Release Could Relieve Achy Muscles
Are Your Muscles Feeling Sore?
Are you living with stiff or tight muscles? Muscle aches and pains could significantly impact your daily life – but painful muscles can be a thing of the past with myofascial release.

Myofascial release treatments at Physio Plus Clinics may benefit you if this is a condition you’re living with.

One of our physiotherapists would be happy to meet with you and discuss how myofascial release can benefit you!

If your stiff or tight muscles are limiting your daily life, don’t hesitate to request an appointment.

Is myofascial release right for me?
It can significantly affect your mobility when muscles become tight. This can cause pain and movement restrictions.

Fortunately, myofascial release helps to reverse this, allowing faster, pain-free movement.

With myofascial release, there are many conditions that can be helped. Some of the most frequent conditions include:

Chronic headaches/migraines
Myofascial release has also been known to relieve the pain of chronic headaches and migraines by massaging the tightened muscles around the head and neck.

Injury
Injuries can cause muscle tightness.

The affected area will be massaged to loosen up the muscles and allow for a quicker healing process.

Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder
The muscles around the jaw are massaged through myofascial release in many patients with the temporomandibular joint disorder.

This decreases pain and inflammation, as well as increases mobility of the jaw.

Fibromyalgia
This condition can also cause stiffness in multiple muscles.

The affected areas will be determined and then massaged.

Myofascial pain syndrome
This is the most commonly treated condition through myofascial release, and it can affect many of your muscles.

The “trigger points” for your myofascial pain are determined and then massaged out.

Carpal tunnel syndrome
Patients with carpal tunnel syndrome can benefit from the myofascial release technique by having the muscles in their hands, wrists, and/or arms massaged, in order to improve function and mobility.

Our physiotherapists are highly trained in the method of myofascial release. They possess an extensive understanding of what specific pressure points to focus on, in order to bring your fascia back to its natural elastic form.

Myofascial release is a type of physiotherapy treatment in the form of massage that helps alleviate pain by relieving tension within the affected muscles.

If you’ve been diagnosed with one of the conditions listed above, or another condition that you think could benefit from myofascial release, contact our Bloor West Village and The Kingsway physiotherapy office today.

Call our clinic today for more information
Stiff, tight, achy muscles shouldn’t limit your life. You deserve to feel good and live an active lifestyle.
